The oscillations of a simple model of the galactic gas layer in the stellar potential well are considered, including motion in the vertical direction. Analytical solutions to the linearized perturbation equations are obtained, and application of a physical boundary condition leads to the dispersion relation for the wave modes. Two types of mode exist, those with a density perturbation which is an even function of the vertical coordinate and those for which this is an odd function. The simplest mode of the second type is shown to have properties similar to the recently observed corrugations of the 21-cm emission from the inner part of the Galaxy.
