Application of a QDM720 model Quantimet image analyzer to the study of astronomical images on plates or transparencies, or coupled to a microscope, is discussed. A vidicon tube was used in the image analysis, with results displayed on the screen or stored on punched tape. Enlargements and isophotes of globular clusters, in particular the elliptical cluster M19, were studied with attention given to the level of grayness of the image.
