Possible sources of gravitational waves, techniques for perceiving gravitational waves (GW), and noise sources interfering with precise GW measurements are discussed. Supernovae giving rise to pulsars and/or asymmetric mass distributions rotating vigorously, markedly asymmetric binary systems, binary systems comprising a neutron star and a black hole, or massive black holes are contemplated as plausible sources of detectible gravitational radiation. The Weber gravitational antenna, experiments conducted to date along these lines, and proposals for a second generation of GW antennas or GW sensors are described.
