Apparent positions are given for the 4-micron bright spots ('hot spots') in the auroral regions of Jupiter observed with the Protocam at the Infrared Telescope Facility on March 7 and 8, 1991 UT (Kim et al., 1991). A model of limb brightening including H3(+) emissions and underlying continuum was constructed and the model was compared with the observed brightness profile at 62 deg south altitude in order to quantify the influence of the limb brightening on the hot spot intensities. No significant correlation was found between the hot spot positions and either the theoretical field lines or the Voyager UV observations. The possible causes of the time variability of the positions of the bright spots are discussed.
