The Virgo cluster is found to be surrounded by a large complex of galaxies whose density excess above the zero baseline density falls off as 1/V squared with Virgocentric distance V. The mean density excess of galaxies in a sphere centered on Virgo with the Local Group at its periphery is approximately equal to 3. The peculiar velocity field which this density perturbation has generated is found to be small. The peculiar velocity of the Local Group relative to Virgo is between 100 and 200 km/s. If the total mass-energy density in the Virgo complex is clustered as the galaxies are, then the universe is open. The deceleration parameter is determined to be about 0.02 with approximately a 50% uncertainty.
