The influence of galactic disturbing forces on the distribution of the orbital elements of comets is analyzed. The perihelia of comets moving in direct and retrograde orbits should differ in their distribution, with direct-orbit perihelia being displaced toward the left of the galactic center and anticenter directions, and retrograde-orbit perihelia shifting toward the right. This prediction is corroborated by statistical data.
