Accurate MK types for 26 of the brightest stars in the field of NGC 6231 have been determined. One emission-line star with a weak shell, one star with C III strong (already known), and four stars with double lines, (two of them previously known) have been found. Fitting the H-R diagram with the faint portion studied by Garrison and Schild (1979) provides an accurate H-R diagram for this young cluster.
