Polyformaldehyde is examined as a possible organic component of interstellar grains. Absorption coefficients are determined from calibrated infrared spectra. The CH band center is at 3.4 microns and the visual extinction coefficient equals 5500A. This is consistent with observational data. The band center varies slightly from one polysaccharide to another but is always consistent with observational data. Grains are thus thought to exist in polymeric form.
