The research, programs and developing policy on Loran-C system in US and Northern Europe are introcuced briefly in this paper. The US government has worked out a detailed plan to adjust the system and upgrade the devices for Loran-C system. Besides, the long-term requirement and cost-effectiveness for Loran-C system, in which the new techniques have been adopted, are to be evaluated. In Northern Europe, the main subject is how to integrate Loran-C with satellite systems. More work about Loran-C system should be done in the future.
