Stars: Cataclysmic Variables, Accretion Discs
Scientific paper
Eclipsing cataclysmic variables provide the best opportunity for studying accretion discs. Information on the intensity distribution of the disc is convolved in the eclipse profile, and may be restored using the Eclipse Mapping method. Radial temperature profiles can be reconstructed from multivawelength light curves, and can be used for testing theoretical models. This paper describes the development and tests of a customly written eclipse mapping code. As an application, results on the novalike variable DW UMa are presented briefly.
