The orbital inclination, mass ratio, luminosity ratio, and relative radius (optical component) of Sanduleak 160 (SMC X-1) are obtained from two independent sets of optical photometry. The fitting was by least squares under the implicit constraint that the X-ray eclipse duration be reproduced. It is found that the optical star is extremely near to filling its Roche lobe, and it is suggested that this circumstance accounts for the high X-ray luminosity by way of an enhancement of the normal stellar wind. The formal computed uncertainty for the mass ratio shows that the Osmer-Hiltner (1974) spectroscopic mass ratio differs by two standard deviations from the photometric value, but this should not be viewed as a serious disagreement. A mass ratio of 6.5 places the X-ray component about at the borderline of possible neutron star masses. The luminosity ratio found from X-ray heating of the optical star is in good agreement with the separate X-ray and optical luminosities.
