Evidence is presented in support of the physical reality of the association Pup OB2 at an H-beta-derived distance of 4.3 kpc. Radial-velocity measures for several OB stars in the vicinity of the association verify the H-beta distance scale. The extreme sensitivity of UBV 'minimum distances' to systematic errors in photometry is reemphasized. The faint blue stars identified in recent photographic investigations are probably less luminous members of Pup OB2, which itself is quite young (2 million yr) and dense. Pup OB2 is on the outskirts of the local arm of the Galaxy. A possible relationship between Pup OB2 and an apparent velocity bubble in the H I distribution is suggested.
