A sample of data comprising published isophotic data from elliptical galaxies is examined to detect and describe optical warp. The data by Watanabe (1983) are investigated by relating defined warp areas to the total area of the isophotae, and eight warped ellipticals are identified from a sample of 11 galaxies. The present results confirm the existence of warping in a majority of ellipticals and make a case for the assumption of the phenomenon's universality.
