Using ultraviolet and optical spectrophotometry and recent infrared photometry (Fernley, 1990), the energy distribution (ED) of 21 Com (A3p) is constructed from 1200 A to 22000 A and the obtained ED is compared with those of standard A3 stars of similar types. The comparison confirms the A3 spectral type ascribed to 21 Com by Cowley et al. (1969) and reveals many similarities with the A3IV standard tau-Vir. The effective temperature derived using the method of Blackwell and Shallis (1977) is 8830 +/- 200 K. The 21 Com ED was compared to model atmospheres, calculated using Kuricz's ATLAS8 for a grid of effective temperatures around 8850 K, surface gravities from 3.5 to 4.5, and three different chemical compositions, and it was found that the best fits to the ED of 21 Com are two models of same effective temperature 8700 K, same metallicity M/H = 3.0, and surface gravities log g = 4.0 and log g = 3.75, respectively.
