Celestial Mechanics, Planets And Satellites: Amalthea

Scientific paper

The analytical model of motion of Jupiter's fifth satellite Amalthea is constructed by the Lie-Hori perturbation method. The effects included are: Jupiter's nonisotropic potential, the action of the Galilean satellites and of the Sun, and the motion of the reference frame. The preliminary values of the orbital constants of the theory are determined by the adjustment to the Jacobson's ephemeris of Amalthea. The comparison with a numerical integration indicates the accuracy of the analytical model on the level of 100 m during 50 years.
