We consider the process of entrainment of the line-emitting clouds by jets in domains of narrow-line emitting regions in Seyfert and radio- galaxies. In our model the clouds penetrate the jet perpendicular to the jet's axis. Several regimes of entrainment are possible. They mostly depend on the value of the "entrainment parameter" ɛ=t_cr_/t_ent_, where t_cr_ is the cloud-jet crossing time and t_ent_ is the entrainment time. Comparing our calculations with observations, we infer that regimes of ɛ<<1 and ɛ>>1 are possibly realised in some astrophysical objects.
