The extended optical nebula S122 at 150 pc from the sun appears to be sandwiched between the two extended radio emission regions. This presents a riddle, as no other case is known of a Galactic object with twin radio areas to the sides of an optical area. Also, there is an absence of radio emission extending over the optical emission area. This presents a puzzle, as such a nearby object is described optically as an emission region. New data indicate that the two extended radio regions are spurious, not detected here at 92 cm with more sensitivity, and not confirmed at 21 cm, either. Their nonexistence may solve the riddle. The lack of radio emission over the face of the optical region puts a stringent upper limit to any emission region. In order to solve the puzzle, it is proposed that S122 that S122 is a reflection nebula, with the associated star embedded in a molecular cloud, the cloud having holes as in a Swiss cheese-type geometry to allow the optical light from the unseen star to be reflected through these holes. The presence of an extended infrared emission centered on the center of the optical emission supports the model of a reflection nebula in a Swiss cheese-type geometry.
