Solar opacities based on the ion-sphere and ion-correlation models are given for the Grevesse mixture. Uncertainties connected with these models are pointed out. Although at low densities both may be realistic, at high densities when the interionic distances are comparable with the wavelengths of the bound-state wave functions, they have to be improved. Neither can give an accurate many-body representation of the plasma, and the question of which is more realistic can be answered only by more accurate computer simulation.
