HD 79968 has been known for some time as a spectroscopic binary, but the orbit of this system remained unknown until now. Our observations, carried out at Observatoire de Haute-Provence with the CORAVEL spectrometer, lead to the following orbital elements: P=30.50253days; T=2448008.696JD; ω= 65^o^.8; e=0.187; K_1_=40.3km/s; K_2_=45.3km/s; V_0_=+25.3km/s; a_1_sin i=16.6Gm; a_2_sin i=18.7Gm; M_1_sin^3^i=1.00Msun_; M_2_sin^3^i=0.89Msun_. The ratio of the correlation dip areas indicates a magnitude difference {DELTA} m_B_~0.9 between the components. The observational data (M_1,2_sin^3^i, {DELTA}m, M_V_, B-V and the spectrum) are consistent with spectral types G3-4V and G9V for the primary and secondary components respectively. The M_1_sin^3^i value, one solar mass, suggests strongly that i should be near 90^o^. This detached system (a=50Rsun_) thus might be an eclipsing one.
