The Antactica Plateau features the best atmospheric conditions on Earth for infrared astronomical observations. Very encouraging scientific results have been recently obtained by small teams mainly from Australia and the US. I will present the main instrumental and scientific projects under way in Italy, Australia and France and will advocate the creation of an international consortium aimed at developing infrared observing facilities in the context of the Concordia infrastructure under development at Dome C.
