Space Missions such as DARWIN/TPF that aim at detecting and analysing extrasolar planets require reliable instrumental concepts in order to achieve the expected performances over the mission duration, without any servicing mission. This instrumental development should be performed thanks to laboratory testbeds and demonstrator. In this talk, I will try do draw a state of the art of key-technologies and key-points taking into account past and present progresses and to point out where development efforts have still to be done.
