The solution of the kinetic equation dependent on the electron path time is obtained for the inverse Compton scattering of electrons in a photon field in a wide energy interval which includes the Klein-Nishina and Thomson regions. A significant difference between the equilibrium spectrum and the spectrum at a fixed t is demonstrated. Limitation of t due to the spatial boundedness of a photon field causes the appearance of knees in both the scattered electron spectrum and the gamma-ray spectrum, which may be one of the explanations of the familiar salient features in the gamma-ray spectra of nuclei of active galaxies and quasars.
