The literature pertaining to the fractal geometry study of astrophysical cloud structures is briefly reviewed. Two physical experiments are then carried out that involve the projection of fractal objects onto a two-dimensional screen. The results of the experiments support the validity of the statement that the dimension Dp of a bounding contour around an image cast a fractal object of dimension Ds satisfies the relation Dp = Ds - 1, provided that Ds is greater than 2.
