Neutrinos: Propagation, Neutrinos: Cosmic Strings
Scientific paper
The propagation of neutrino particles, mixing of mass eigenstates, in a weak gravitational field generated by an infinite, static string is studied. The authors find that a lensing effect, due to the conical structure of the space-time, induces a shift of the quantum-mechanical phase of neutrinos related to the angular deficit, i.e. to the string mass density Gμ. Consequences on astrophysical neutrinos are discussed.
