Spectroscopic evolutionary synthesis calculations for starburst galaxies of various metallicities are presented for the broadened emission lines He II 4686 A and C III 4650 A produced by WR stars in the spectra of WR galaxies. The strengths of both lines strongly decrease with decreasing metallicity. While a strong C III 4650 A line caused by WC stars is only prominent in the spectra of model galaxies with solar metallicity, He II 4686 A emission mainly due to WN stars can be expected down to Z = 1/10 Z (solar). Bursts of duration 1 to 5 x 10 exp 6 yr which lead to an increase in the total stellar mass in the galaxy by 0.1 to 10 percent are compatible with the equivalent width of He II 4686 A observed in WR galaxies.
