Images in the region of the nearly straight arc previously discovered in the X-ray cluster Cl 0302+1658 (Giraud, 1991) are analyzed. Frames obtained in December 1991 show two very blue features on each end of the arc. In December 1991, these objects had a similar surface brightness micro-v of about 26 to be compared with 24.5 +/- 0.15 for the arc. In November-December 1989 the western component was not visible at micro-v of about 26.8 and the Eastern component had a surface brightness close to that of the arc. The arclets might be images of a single variable source whose images are observed with a time delay. The image separation of the arclets suggests a time delay of the order of about 1-2 yr with reasonable hypothesis. The source has colors of 0.0 +/- 0.3 in B - V and V - R. It is suggested variability be searched for in the very blue population of Tyson (1988). A significant fraction of faint AGN might be detected.
