Current configuration plan of the Large Millimeter and Submillimeter Array (LMSA) is based on five arrays ranging from 100 m to 10 km. The 10 km array has 0.01 in. which is better than that of Hubble Space Telescope. A most compact array will be used for high sensitivity survey observations and wide field observations. LMSA will have three intermediate configurations of which dimensions are approx. 250 m, approx. 700 m, and 2,000 m, so that we will have resolution jumping by factor of almost 3.0 for various astronomical requirements. Shape of each array configuration has not decided yet, but imaging simulations have suggested that centrally condensed Fourier coverate has better imaging performance for sparse configurations.
