We suggest the use of a new expression for the emergent flux distribution in stellar atmospheres. Previous analytical expressions, e.g. linear and quadratic approximations, are compared to the new one and it is shown that a much better fitting to theoretical values is obtained using the new equation for effective temperatures larger than 8500 K. We thus propose to use in future work the new expression in the analysis of the light curves of eclipsing binaries, lunar occultations of stars, or determinations of stellar diameters by interferometric methods.
