The solar physics program being developed in Brazil by the Instituto de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) is presented. The most recent results are presented with emphasis to those relative to energy production in solar explosions. Diagnostics obtained with unprecedented sensitivity and time resolution at millimeter microwaves, and at hard X-rays, appear to suggest that the impulsive phase of the explosions can be a response to multiple discrete injections quasi-quantized in energy, with various degrees of superposition. The first models reconciling these evidences are presented. Much data was acquired and interpretation is just beginning.
