Theoretical modeling of cosmic-ray transport in the global heliosphere requires a three-dimensional in space, kinetic approach in view of considerable asymmetries imposed by the misalignment between the plasma and neutral atom flows in the heliosphere and the complex interaction between the interstellar and interplanetary magnetic fields at the heliopause. Previous work in the field assumed rotational symmetry about the vector of the relative motion between the Sun and the surrounding interstellar cloud. Here we introduce the first grid-based 4D model of cosmic-ray propagation through the global heliosphere. The project involves a suite of MHD and kinetic models used to calculate, in a self-consistent, time-dependent way plasma-neutral and magnetic field backgrounds and energetic particle phase-space distributions, with drift, diffusion, and adiabatic acceleration/cooling taken into account. Results are shown for the heliospheric topology corresponding to a negative solar minimum conditions and differences with earlier axisymmetric results are mentioned.
