Spectroscopic observations have been made of four elliptical-like galaxies which contain strong dust lanes. Stellar rotation curves and velocity dispersion profiles are presented in at least two position angles for each galaxy. Spectra taken along the dust lanes also exhibit weak emission lines from which the velocity field of the ionized gas has been determined. In two cases the rotation axes of the stellar and gaseous components are orthogonal. A comparison is made with published models of tumbling prolate bars and constraints on the maximum figure rotation are derived. The nature of the present sample is briefly discussed in the light of these new observations.
