Solar observational data with an 80 A passband centered around 5200 A are analyzed to detect any variations in the photospheric grid occurring as a function of solar activity. The analysis focused on possible correlations between solar activity and the average distance between the solar granules. The measurements were made from photographs, and were studied in reference to radioelectric flux monitored at 2.8 GHz used to define the level of solar activity. Histograms were developed of the distances between intense and low activity levels. Heightened solar activity was found to be associated with a lowered frequency of distances measured at greater than 0.2 arcsec and augmentation of shorter distances.
