Intensifier-dissector-scanner observations are presented of renewed emission variability in the very early-type rapidly rotating speckle binary 59 Cygni; this activity marks the end of a five-year quiescent period following the shell episode of 1974-1975. Circumstellar envelope line profiles are extracted, and the Balmer and Paschen decrements are evaluated and compared to model calculations. The quasi-periodic V/R variations seen at H-alpha are dynamically inconsistent with the elliptical ring model for Be stars developed by Huang. Analysis of the Balmer-line bisector functions reveals a persistent redshift to H-alpha which is interpreted as evidence for expansion of the circumstellar envelope.
