The composition and characteristics of the atmosphere, measurements of the magnetic fields and surface morphology of the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter are discussed. The biological experiments carried out by the Viking missions are detailed, concluding that no positive evidence of life on Mars was found.
