The experimental production of an epitaxial Cd(x)Hg(1-x)Te layer of constant composition by crystallization of a solution of cadmium and mercury in tellurium is described. Epitaxial layers of Cd(x)Hg(1-x)Te solid solutions are obtained by growth from the liquid phase. The layer composition is related to the composition of the liquid phase. The growth layers have an alternating composition to a depth not exceeding 10 microns adjoining the sublayer while the composition of the rest of the growth layer remained constant.
