Observations of the novalike system UX UMa made in February 1981, and April 1982, with the IIDS on the 2.1-m telescope at KPNO are reported and analyzed. A total of 262 time-resolved photometric-quality spectra were obtained and used to generate continuum light curves, emission-line flux measurements, line profiles, and radial velocities at all phases for two epochs. UX UMa had bumps in its continuum light curve before and after the approximately 0.95-mag-deep, 0.06-period-long 1981 eclipse but none in the 0.91-mag, 0.05-period 1982 eclipse; mean nonhotspot out-of-eclipse flux levels were about 15 and 19 picoergs/sq cm sec, respectively. The differences are attributed to an outburst of about 0.25 mag. The behavior of the H-beta, H-gamma, and He II, emissions and He I, Mg II absorption is illustrated with graphs and gray-scale images and discussed. It is suggested that the bulk of the He II emission in 1981 and 1982 originated in the hot spot and the disk, respectively. No s-curve pattern is observed in the H emissions, but a third component about 150 deg out of phase is detected.
