Scientific paper

The beginning of regular instrumental investigations and measurements of the solar ultraviolet radiation in Sofia are presented in this paper. The constructed instrumentation (apparatuses) and the used methods are described in details. The first results for the year 1997 are graphically presented. The future scientific and practical applications of the obtained results are pointed out in the conclusion.
