The observation of the circumstellar disk around the Be star SS 2883 -- an optical component of the binary radio pulsar PSR B1259-63 -- which is inclined to the orbital plane strongly suggests that the supernova explosion in this binary system was asymmetric. The kick velocity gained by the neutron star during its birth is shown to be greater than 50 km s^-1.
