Many available published times of light minima of the two contact binaries AU Ser and FG Hya are collected and the changes in their orbital periods are analyzed. It is indicated that the orbital period of AU Ser shows a sudden decrease in the time interval of 1987-1988 and several period jumps are found in FG Hya. The connections between the period jumps and the variable O'Connell effects (asymmetries in the light curves) of the two contact binaries are also discussed.
