Nucleosynthesis events eject freshly-produced isotopes, among them radioactive isotopes, into the interstellar medium. Decay gamma-rays have been observed from such processes from radioactive ^26Al and ^44Ti, and from positron annihilation, while other expected isotope decays, specifically from ^60Fe and ^22Na, are still being searched for. We present the status of observational results, and discuss their interpretation. Measured gamma-ray flux translates into production yields of specific supernovae, novae, and WR stars. Spatial distributions reflect massive-star activity in different regions of the Galaxy. We describe how core-collapse supernovae, Wolf Rayet stars, and OB associations within their interstellar environment can be studied in novel ways through measurements of gamma-ray line emission. note
