Telescopes: Control Systems

Scientific paper

The author presents a newly developed time compensation system for the telescope control at the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. He has continuously improved the control systems for the telescopes, which are now based on a workstation or a personal computer. These control systems use a built-in clock of the computer, and its accuracy is so low that one must adjust it by hand everyday. To reduce such operations and errors in pointing telescopes, the author has developed the time compensation system which makes use of GPS (Global Positioning System).
