The effect of random forcing and parametric excitation on long term evolution of the solar p modes has been investigated. By varying the strength of external excitation and also the parametric excitation, the mean square amplitude (MSA) of a given p mode has been computed by taking into account the quadratic and cubic nonlinear terms in the equation governing the oscillations. Further, the estimates of the MSA have been made for different values of linear growth rate $\alpha$ and nonlinearity parameter $\beta$ in the damping term of the oscillator.
