Lamost is a spectroscopic survey telescope with an aperture equivalent to 4 meters and a field of view (FOV) of 5°. Within this FOV the author is planning to have 4,000 targets linked by optical fibres to several spectrographs. How to design a special spectrograph to fit this requirement is not very easy. Here the author gives some possible designs and discusses some common principles.
