Low resolution IUE spectra were obtained of the Mg II emission lines for 7 red giants in the open cluster M67 with absolute magnitudes in the range -0.8 less than Mv less than 0.4. The strength of the Mg II chromospheric lines is found to increase with increasing luminosity on the giant branch. The flux in the Mg II line is found to scale roughly as the surface area of the red giants, indicating that the level of activity per unit area of the surface of these stars changes little with evolution on the upper giant branch.
