Scientific paper

Radio observations monitoring ionospheric irregularities during the solar eclipse on March 9, 1997 were carried out with the Miyun Synthesis Radio Telescope, Beijing Astronomical Observatory. A wave-like disturbance, of phase gradient about 10°/km was found. The disturbance oscillated for three cycles and started almost at the time of eclipse-beginning and ended before the maximum eclipse-depth time.
