We present the analysis of the XMM-Newton X-ray observation of two clusters of galaxies with good mass estimates from gravitational lensing. One is Abell 1689, where the application of a spherically symmetric mass/temperature model yields the total mass that is significantly lower than that implied by gravitational lensing data. This may be partially due to the fact that the cluster is far from relaxed: in fact, the XMM-Newton data imply that the redshift inferred from the spectra of the X-ray emitting gas in various regions of the cluster is significantly different, indicating a relative velocity of about 3,000 km/s. Using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo recently developed by us for the XMM EPIC cameras we compare temperature and redshift maps for Abell 1689 with the ones obtained using standard spectral analysis. The other cluster is Abell 2218, where our preliminary analysis implies average X-ray redshift of z = 0.162 +/- 0.003, which is significantly lower than the average galaxy redshift of z = 0.1756 measured from a spectroscopic survey of 66 cluster galaxies. This cluster shows a hot (8 - 9 keV) central region, surrounded by somewhat cooler gas, and in similarity to Abell 1689, it is clearly not relaxed, probably still undergoing a major merger.
