The determination of fundamental characteristics of neutron stars is of critical importance for understanding the properties of nuclear matter. We report the results of analysis of Type I X-ray bursts data from XTE J1814-338 collected with Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer. We apply the theory of spectral formation during burst decay stage to model the dependence of color temperature on bolometric flux. The model fits provide the neutron star mass-radius relationship for particular source distance. We also use semi-analytical theory for spectral formation during the burst expansion to constrain the results given by decay stage analysis. We compare our results with modern equations of states for neutron stars.
Recently the compactness of neutron star in XTE J1814-338 was estimated by modeling the burst oscillation ( Strohmayer, Markwardt, Swank and in't Zand 2003). We assess the impact of these results on the range of model parameters, such as source distance and atmospheric chemical composition, given by our technique.
