The Cosmic Hot Interstellar Plasma Spectrometer (CHIPS) has been on orbit for almost 16 months, making spectral measurements of diffuse radiation in the EUV wavelength range 90 - 260 A. We report on the latest measurements and analysis of line radiation in this range, which thus far argue for less hot gas and a lower temperature in the local ISM than has been inferred from previous observations. We have also recently made the first high spectral resolution measurements of two comets (NEAT-Q4 and LINEAR-T7) in the EUV and report preliminary analysis of these spectra.
The CHIPS mission has been funded by NASA.
