We have obtained deep broad and narrow band CCD images in the direction 09h03.8m+33deg52'. We have analysed the images in order to search for Lyα emission coming from galaxies or protogalaxies at redshift =~3.4. We report here on the non-detection of objects with Lyα emission down to a 1σ brightness of 4.3x10^-18^erg/cm2/s/arcsec2. We discuss the implications that this limit in Lyα emission can have on the possible existence of protogalaxies and HI clouds at that redshift.
