Based on general observed facts of the continuum emission of white-light solar flares, the relation between the continuum spectrum and model atmospheres is investigated semiempirically through a series of non-LTE model calculations. The results show that either a temperature increase in deep layers of the photosphere or the existence of a plateau structure in the trasition region can explain the observed white-light enhancement.
